Ommetje met Tom digitizes the book “Kijk omhoog, Amsterdam!” into an immersive Progressive Web App. Users explore carefully curated walking routes enriched with historical context, photography, audio, and map-based navigation. The platform combines a performant PWA frontend with a powerful backoffice for route management, translations, analytics, and monetization. Offline access, QR-based location validation, and multiple access models (day passes and subscriptions) make the experience reliable for both tourists and locals. The system is architected to scale content, users, and routes without sacrificing performance.
